Indian batters have dominated the opposition bowlers across all three formats of the games in recent times. It is rare to see the Indian batting lineup registering back-to-back failures. This is one of the main reasons why India have had such an impressive win percentage at home as well as in overseas conditions over the last few years.

Speaking about the T20I format in particular, in the past, there used to be question marks over the way India approach their batting. They would play in a similar way as they do in ODIs and take time to settle in the middle, instead of playing attacking shots right from ball one like some other nations.

However, the trend is changing gradually. After failing to win another ICC T20 World Cup trophy since 2007, the batters of India have decided to play with a more aggressive approach in 2022. So, far only two Indian batters have scored 50 runs in the final five overs of a T20I innings. The first one was in 2007 and second in 2022. Here’s a list of those two names.

    1. Current Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav brought his ‘A’ game to the table in India’s first-ever T20I match against the Hong Kong cricket team last night at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Yadav hit six fours and six sixes in his 68-run knock to help the Men in Blue finish with a 190+ total on the board.

Yadav launched an all-out attack on the Hong Kong cricket team bowlers. He scored 26 runs, including four sixes off the last over.

    2. Yuvraj Singh

Back in the 2007 T20 World Cup, when Yuvraj hit six sixes in an over of Stuart Broad, he also became the first batter to score more than 50 runs for the Men in Blue in the last five overs.
