Shahid Afridi is one of the most well-known cricketers from Pakistan. The all-rounder is known for his big-hitting abilities. He also starred in Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2009 triumph. Afridi retired from international cricket long back, but he continues to play in leagues of retired cricketers.
The former Pakistan cricket team recently signed up for the New York Warriors team in the USA Masters T10 League, which will happen in August. Generally, Indian and Pakistani cricketers do not play in the same league, but in the new T10 League of the United States, Indian and Pakistani players will be playing together. In fact, two former Indian cricketers are Shahid Afridi’s teammates at New York Warriors as well. Here’s a list of the two names:
1. Murali Vijay will play with Shahid Afridi
Murali Vijay opened the batting for India during his prime. He was an all-format player initially, but as the years passed, he became a red-ball specialist. Vijay captained the Punjab Kings in IPL. His last IPL appearance came for the Chennai Super Kings in 2020.
Vijay retired from international cricket recently. He has now registered himself to play in the USA Masters T10 League. New York Warriors selected him in their squad for the new tournament.
2. Munaf Patel
Munaf Patel is another cricketer who will be playing for the New York Warriors in the USA Masters T10 League. Patel was Afridi’s opponent in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 semifinal match between India and Pakistan. Now, in 2023, he will be the teammate of Afridi at New York Warriors in the USA Masters T10 League.
Apart from Shahid Afridi, the New York Warriors team features two other Pakistani players, namely Kamran Akmal and Misbah-ul-Haq. All eyes will be on this team in the USA T10 League.
