2023 is the year of ICC Cricket World Cup. It is also the year of reversing retirements. Many cricketers who had announced retirement decided to take a U-turn and made a return to the cricket field. Some of the most recent examples are Ben Stokes, Manoj Tiwary, Tamim Iqbal and Moeen Ali.
Stokes announced retirement from ODI cricket last year. However, the all-rounder has made himself available for the 50-over format once again. Tamim Iqbal announced retirement after the first ODI of the series between Bangladesh and Afghanistan. However, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh convinced him to take his retirement back because of the mega event in the year 2023. 1. Many fans want MS Dhoni back in Indian team for ICC World Cup 2023
MS Dhoni has been the most successful captain in Indian cricket history. The former Indian wicketkeeper batter announced retirement from all formats of international cricket on August 15, 2020. Three years have passed since then, but in that period, Dhoni has won two IPL trophies as captain.
He has been struggling with a knee injury this year, but if he was fit like before, it would have been a dream come true moment to see him playing in a World Cup in front of the home fans again.
2. Ambati Rayudu
Ambati Rayudu is still eligible to return to the Indian team unless he plays in the CPL 2023 season. There are still a couple of days to think. If the Indian team management wants a middle-order batter, they can think of recalling Rayudu. He is a player who performs well under pressure. With proper practice, he can be a good option for middle-order in Indian team.
