Shikhar Dhawan has announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket. Here, we take a look at the list of two Indians you might not know were a part of the XI when Shikhar Dhawan made his Test debut.
Shikhar had a solid start to his Test career, scoring a daddy hundred on debut. It was one of the best knocks by a debutant in the longest format of the game. Even now, no other Indian debutante has managed to score the number of runs that he did on his debut. This game was in 2013. Interestingly, there were a few cricketers in this XI that seem surprising, especially after 10 years. We talk about them here.
1) Sachin Tendulkar played at No.4 when Shikhar Dhawan made his Test debut
You would imagine that Sachin Tendulkar and Shikhar Dhawan are from different timelines. However, there was a time when both players operated together. In fact, in the IPL, Shikhar’s first franchise was Mumbai Indians. Sachin could not do much in this game. He played at his usual slot in this match, too.
2) Pragyan Ojha
Pragyan Ojha was one of the Indians you might not know were a part of the XI when Shikhar Dhawan made his Test debut. For a while in the Indian Test Team, Pragyan Ojha was one of the lead spinners. In this game, Pragyan also had a vital role to play, picking a total of four wickets. However, the cricketer did not have a long run in the Test Team, mainly because of the consistency and all-round value of Ravindra Jadeja.
