LA Knight Riders will be one of the six teams participating in the inaugural edition of USA’s Major League Cricket. The league aims to increase the popularity of cricket in the United States of America. Four out of the six teams in the tournament are owned by such group of owners who also have a franchise in the Indian Premier League.
Kolkata Knight Riders team owners were one of the first investors in USA’s Major League Cricket. They bought the Los Angeles-based franchise and named it LA Knight Riders. The inaugural Draft of Major League Cricket happened earlier this year, where the six teams bought players from different parts of the world. Several former Pakistan players also participated in the draft.
LA Knight Riders signed a couple of Pakistan-born players in the MLC 2023 Draft. Here’s a list of the two names:
1. Ali Khan will play for the LA Knight Riders
Pakistan-born fast bowler Ali Khan plays for the United States of America at the international level. Khan was the first American team player to earn a contract in the Indian Premier League. Kolkata Knight Riders signed him as a replacement in IPL 2020, but Khan got injured as well and missed the tournament.
Now, Khan has an opportunity to play for another Knight Riders team. He will don the LAKR jersey in the inaugural edition of MLC 2023.
2. Saif Badar
Former Pakistan U-19s cricketer Saif Badar has settled in the United States of America now. Badar represented two teams of Pakistan Super League in his PSL career, namely Islamabad United and the Multan Sultans.
Badar is a right-arm leg-spin bowler, who also plays as a middle-order batter. It will be interesting to see how he performs for the LA Knight Riders in Major League Cricket this year.
