It is the dream of all cricket players to score a hundred for their nation in international cricket. Quite a few batters have accomplished the feat as well. Some of them even scored more than 10 hundreds in their careers. However, it hurts the most when a player is batting well, and all of a sudden, rain interrupts the proceedings in the middle.

In July 2022, there have been two instances where a batter was playing well and even reached 90s, but he could not complete his century because of a rain interruption. In this article now, we will list down those two unlucky batters.

    1. One of India’s star players – Shubman Gill

The Indian cricket team recently won the ODI series against the West Indies cricket team by 3-0. Shubman Gill won the Man of the Match award in the third ODI for his splendid knock of 98 runs. Fans should note that Gill did not lose his wicket and only 36 overs ended in the Indian innings when rain interrupted the game.

The match officials decided to end the Indian innings and told West Indies to bat. After winning the Man of the Match award, Gill said:

“It was bittersweet. I was expecting to get a hundred today but it wasn’t in my control with the rain. Was very disappointed with the runout in the first game so my plan today was to rotate strike a bit more. After 22 overs or so, we put the foot on the pedal. I was just thinking about getting one more over.”

    2. Quinton de Kock

Current South African batter Quinton de Kock was unbeaten on 92 runs off 76 balls in the recently-concluded ODI series against the England cricket team. It was the series decider, and rain interrupted the proceedings just when de Kock was eight runs away.
