The much-awaited PSL 2023 Draft for the next edition of the Pakistan Super League took place yesterday where the six franchises made their respective draft picks for the new season. Six teams, namely Peshawar Zalmi, Lahore Qalandars, Multan Sultans, Karachi Kings, Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators, were a part of the draft.
Unlike the Indian Premier League, there is not any auction system in place for the Pakistan Super League. There is a draft system in PSL, wherein players can be picked in different categories, namely Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver, Emerging and Supplementary.
The top players generally earn Platinum contracts in Pakistan Super League. Interestingly though, there were a couple of Platinum pick players at PSL 2023 Draft, who went unsold at the IPL 2022 Auction earlier this year. Here is a list of those two names:
1. Josh Little was a Platinum Pick at PSL 2023 Draft
Not a single player from Ireland has ever earned an IPL contract. The Irishmen have surprisingly been ignored by all the IPL teams in all seasons, but fast bowler Josh Little was present in the Chennai Super Kings camp this year as a net bowler.
Little is one of the top talents in the Ireland cricket team. PSL team Multan Sultans seem to have recognized his talent as they picked him in the Platinum category at the recently concluded Draft.
2. Imran Tahir
Veteran South African leg-spin bowler Imran Tahir was once the Purple Cap winner in the Indian Premier League. However, he seems to have past his prime now as he was playing in the Legends League Cricket 2022 featuring retired players.
Tahir went unsold at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. The right-arm leg-spinner was still in demand at the PSL Draft as Karachi Kings selected him in the Platinum Category.
