While Ireland maybe outside of the top 10 in the latest ICC Teams Rankings, but they are giving each and every team a run for their life and money. And once again, they were so closed to pulling off a great run chase against New Zealand.
The ongoing New Zealand tour of Ireland has been probably one of the most closest series till yet. All three of One Day International (ODI) matches have been decided by last over or a close call.
However, it is the third match of the series that has decided the Irish fans the most. They were close to pulling off a great run chase against the Kiwis. Ireland fell short by just 1 run in the third ODI of the 3 match series.
Batting first, New Zealand scored 360 runs thanks to a brilliant century from Martin Guptill. While chasing the target, the Irish team scored 359 runs in their restricted 50 overs. Paul Stirling smashed a brilliant century, scoring 120 runs and Harry Tector scored 108 runs.
They required 10 runs in the last over of the match, but didn’t had a proper batsman at the crease which caused them the victory. Ireland have lost closed matches throughout the series and could have even won the series.
