Asian Games will happen later this year, and for the first time since 2014, the mega event will feature a cricket tournament as well. In 2014, Sri Lanka won the gold medal, Afghanistan won the silver medal, whereas the bronze medal went to the Afghanistan cricket team. Neither India nor Pakistan participated in that tournament.
According to a report by The Indian Express, India will send a men’s team for the Asian Games cricket tournament this year. PTI reported that Shikhar Dhawan will likely lead a second-string team as well. Since a majority of the star players will be rested for the mega event, the BCCI will likely give an opportunity to youngsters and may even recall some senior players for this event.

1. Mohit Sharma might return for Asian Games
Gujarat Titans helped Mohit Sharma revive his international career. Sharma was a net bowler for the franchise in 2022, and in 2023, the Titans signed him as a player of the main squad. The right-arm pacer made an impact straightaway and finished as the second highest wicket-taker in IPL 2023 despite missing the first few matches.
Sharma will now be hoping for an India recall soon. Since he is a wicket-taking bowler, the BCCI may want to try him out in T20Is again for the first time since 2015.
2. Piyush Chawla
Veteran Indian leg-spinner Piyush Chawla returned to IPL this year, with the Mumbai Indians giving him a chance to display his talent. Chawla emerged as the best spinner of the MI lineup, and if Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav are unavailable for the mega event, Chawla could receive a chance. Chawla last played a T20I match for India on December 22, 2012 against England.
