Chennai Super Kings are one of the top teams in the Indian Premier League history. They have won the IPL trophy four times, and they also ended as the winners of the Champions League T20 twice. Over the last few years, the form of CSK team has been inconsistent.

While they qualified for the playoffs in the first 10 seasons which they played, they have made it to the Top 4 only once in the last three seasons. One of the major reasons behind the downfall of CSK is the declining form of their senior players. The team needs some fresh names, and they should not look beyond Tamil Nadu because the state has produced some of the best IPL talents in recent years.

Quite a few Tamil Nadu cricketers have been retained ahead of the IPL 2023 Auction. From the list of players released by the teams, here are the two Tamil Nadu players whom the Chennai Super Kings should target at the upcoming mini auction.

    1. Chennai Super Kings should look to re-sign Narayan Jagadeesan

It was a little baffling to see the Chennai-based franchise let go of Naryan Jagadeesan. He is a wicket-keeper batter, who rarely got opportunities to play for the team. MS Dhoni played as the wicket-keeper in a majority of the matches. Like Ruturaj Gaikwad, if Jagadeesan receives clarity about his role, he can do wonders for the franchise.

Recently, the Tamil Nadu batter smashed 277 runs in a 50-over match. He also created a new record for the most consecutive hundreds by a player in List-A cricket history.

    2. Murugan Ashwin

Chennai will return to their den Chepauk for the IPL 2023 season. They will need quality spinners, and one of them could be Murugan Ashwin. He has played under Dhoni’s captaincy for Rising Pune Supergiant.

In Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022, Ashwin scalped three wickets in three matches at a decent economy rate of 6.75. CSK should bid for him.
