Afghanistan have established themselves as a force to reckon with in the white-ball formats. Last year, in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, the Afghani team defeated Sri Lanka, Pakistan and England. Seven years before that in the T20 World Cup 2016, Afghans had defeated West Indies as well.

Now, in the ongoing T20 World Cup, Afghanistan made history by registering their first-ever international cricket wins against New Zealand and Australia. Although the Afghans have improved so much, there are still two teams which they are yet to defeat in an international cricket match. Here’s a list of two such teams.

    1. Afghanistan have never won a match against India in international cricket

Despite having so much experience of playing in IPL and Indian conditions, Afghans have never defeated India in any international match. The closest they came was in the 2018 Asia Cup in the UAE, when the match ended in a last-over thrilling tie.

Six years later, India hosted the Afghans for a bilateral T20I series, and in the final match of that series, the Afghans forced a Super Over twice. Still, India did not allow them to win the game though.

    2. South Africa

South Africa is the only team with a 100% win record against the Afghans right now. India have never lost a match, but the 2018 Asia Cup game ended in a tie. However, South Africa have always emerged victorious when they have locked horns with the Afghan outfit.

The first meeting between the two teams happened back in the 2010 T20 World Cup, while the latest meeting took place in the 2023 ODI World Cup. In all the matches, South Africa have secured the win.
