On Tuesday, the venues for the Cricket World Cup 2023 were announced. All eyes were on where India would play. The finals of the event will happen in Ahmedabad. It is not a surprise that BCCI has opted for venues against a specific opposition that would work in India’s favour. However, they do have taken a risk when it comes to a few venues. Here, we take a look at two venues selected for India in ODI World Cup 2023 that may backfire for the men in blue.

    1) Chennai against Australia

India recently played against Australia in an ODI game in Chennai. The hosts struggled, mainly due to the spin bowling of Adam Zampa. A few Indian batters struggle against this type of bowling. The Aussies might come up with the likes of Ashton Agar and Glenn Maxwell to further complicate things for India. Also, Australia has some good batters of spin in the form of David Warner, Glenn Maxwell and Steve Smith. Considering these factors, BCCI could have chosen a better venue which would have favoured the hosts in their first game of the competition.

    3) Dharamshala against New Zealand

Dharamshala is one of the venues selected for India in the ODI World Cup 2023 that may backfire for the men in blue. The conditions in Dharamshala aid the pacers. The ball swings a lot. New Zealand has a good bowling attack in this perspective. In 2019 WC semis, as well, India struggled against the likes of Boult. It might not be a surprise if there is a repeat of a similar story. BCCI must at least now focus on the pitch to aid the Indian Team better.
