CSK is still struggling in IPL 2025. Here, we take a look at the list of three benched players in other teams who could have been useful for the CSK squad.
The management must have now realized that some major errors were committed at the auctions. Some of these issues cannot be fixed very soon. In hindsight, some easy acquisitions at the auctions could have helped the side.
1) Glenn Phillips
Surprisingly, the Kiwi is yet to play in the ongoing edition. Sherfane Rutherford has done well in the middle order and GT might not tinker with his spot.
CSK lacks a powerhouse in the batting line-up after Shivam Dube. A player like Phillips would have been the perfect choice for the side. He is also a part-time spinner and a wicket-keeping option.
2) Karun Nair is one of the benched players who might have been useful in CSK
Despite his solid run at the domestic level, Karun Nair is not getting a chance in the IPL. Sameer Rizvi has been preferred over him at Delhi Capitals.
However, for an outfit like CSK, Karun would have been a fine fit. He is good against spin and on his current form, he could have been an asset in the middle order.
3) Mahipal Lomror
He is a powerful striker of the ball and one of his strengths is his game against spin bowling. Therefore, at CSK, a player like him would have been brilliant.
At the moment, GT is playing one less batter and hence, Mahipal is not getting his chance. That said, it is inevitable that he plays a game or two in the coming weeks.
