The defending champion Chennai Super Kings have had a decent TATA IPL 2024 performance-wise. After 11 games, they are third on the table with 12 points. Matheesha Pathirana is the latest player to join the injury list for CSK.
The Sri Lankan pacer has flown back home for his rehab and will miss the remainder of matches. It will be a big blow for CSK, as Pathirana is their death specialist and has bowled well. He has taken 13 wickets in just six games at an economy rate of 7.68. So now the management has to find someone who can play his role. Notably, Mustafizur Rahman is also unavailable.

Simarjeet Singh played his first game of the TATA IPL 2024 against Punjab Kings a few days ago. He bowled three overs, took 2/16, and bowled in the middle phase. Well, he is a pretty good bowler and had some good spells for CSK in 2022 and 2023. He can be a good option, as he is pretty good at nailing wide yorkers.
2. Tushar Deshpande
Tushar Deshpande has been used at various phases of the game by CSK. He has bowled in the powerplay and also at the death. Deshpande has taken 12 wickets for his team in ten games at an economy rate of 8.66. He hits the deck hard and is a skiddy bowler. He can be another option for CSK.

Shardul Thakur has always played the role of a first- or second-change bowler for India in the white-ball format. That is his role with Chennai Super Kings as well. The veteran pacer has loads of experience and has bowled in different situations throughout his career. He can be a pretty handy bowler in the final overs for CSK.
