IPL was the foundation and reference on which T20 leagues across the globe were started. A few players have become regulars in those leagues but are yet to play in IPL. Here, we take a look at three brilliant established overseas T20 players who are yet to play in IPL.
Even at the international level, many players have done well in the T20 format. However, the dynamics in IPL are such that some of these players are yet to get a chance to be a part of the competition. We talk about such players in this article.
1) James Vince
Not many know but James Vince has scored 10000 T20 runs and this is while not playing a lot of international cricket and IPL. He is a regular in almost every league across the globe. Not just as a batter but Vince has also earned credentials as a skipper. He has already won a few trophies in this regard. It won’t be a surprise if he lands an IPL contract in the future.
2) Kusal Mendis is one of the talented overseas players yet to play in IPL
Kusal Mendis is one of the brilliant established overseas T20 players who have yet to play in the IPL. One of the best attacking Sri Lankan players of this generation is Kusal Mendis. When he gets going, it is hard to stop him. Also, he is an experienced wicket-keeper. Considering these factors, it is a bit of a surprise when he has not featured in the IPL, especially seeing players such as Shai Hope, who have recently done well in T20s, getting an IPL contract.
3) Keshav Maharaj
It is hard for conventional overseas spinners to do well or even get a chance in the IPL. Hence, despite doing well at various events, Keshav Maharaj is yet to feature in the IPL. He might have to work on his batting and offer more value if he has to become an IPL player in the future.
