When KL Rahul made his Test debut, no one expected him to even play in the white-ball formats. The same was said about Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah for Tests. Hence, unless given a chance, you cannot rule out a player completely.

    1) Akash Deep

Akash Deep has been doing really well in Tests for India. He looks to be a player who employs Mohammed Shami’s tactics very well. At RCB, he could not do much in IPL. Nevertheless, he can be a real deal in the ODI format, especially with the new ball. India will want to have depth and width of resources in all the departments. In this regard, Akash deserves a chance in the ODI Team.

    2) Yashasvi Jaiswal is one of the Indians who could make ODI debut soon

It is interesting to note that Yashasvi Jaiswal has been a smashing hit in Tests and T20Is but he is yet to make his ODI debut. The main reason is that Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill have been doing well. That said, India needs more competition for places and someone like Yashasvi will surely push Gill to become more aware of his place. This works well for India in the long run.

    3) Sarfaraz Khan

In the games he has played so far, Sarfaraz has looked confident and seems very much ready to be a player for India in the future. His strengths are playing spin and building long innings. Both of these could work in the ODI Team, as well, especially if the games are being played at home. Therefore, you cannot rule out an ODI debut for him soon.
