RCB suffered their first defeat of IPL 2023 last night against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens. They lost the game by 81 runs, which is why the team management may think of making a few changes to their playing XI.
Looking at the combination of RCB playing XI in the last match against the Kolkata Knight Riders, one can say that they probably lacked specialist batters. Their team was filled with all-rounders, and the team management may look to switch to specialist batter and bowler strategy, especially with the Impact Player rule in place.
Here’s a list of the three changes that the Royal Challengers Bangalore might make to their playing XI for the match against Lucknow Super Giants on April 10:
1. Wanindu Hasaranga may his first match of IPL 2023 replacing Michael Bracewell
RCB head coach Sanjay Bangar confirmed yesterday that Wanindu Hasaranga will join the team on April 10. He is currently in New Zealand, playing for Sri Lanka in a T20I series. It is unclear whether Hasaranga will be available to play, but if he is available, the team may pick him in place of Michael Bracewell.
2. Manoj Bhandage may make his debut in IPL 2023 replacing Anuj Rawat
Anuj Rawat came in as an Impact Player for RCB in their last match. However, he could not make much of an impact. Manoj Bhandage, who has been a top performer in domestic cricket, especially in T20s, where he has a strike rate of 154, can make his debut in place of Rawat.
3. Suyash Prabhudessai gets a game
As mentioned ahead, RCB’s batting lineup lacked specialist batters against KKR. They can use Suyash Prabhudessai as well in the next game. Perhaps, they could drop Shahbaz Ahmed, who has not bowled much this season or bring Suyash in for Akash Deep, who proved to be expensive against KKR.
