RCB have had a forgettable campaign in IPL 2024 so far. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru find themselves in the 10th position on the points table after just managing one win from eight matches. It is safe to say that RCB’s chances of qualifying for the playoffs are all but over.
The Bengaluru-based franchise still have an outside chance of qualifying for the next round, but for that, they have to first win their remaining six league matches and hope that a lot of results go their way. RCB still have some extraordinary talent in their squad. Here’s a look at the three changes which Bengaluru must make to return to winning ways in IPL 2024.
1. RCB should bring back Alzarri Joseph for Lockie Ferguson
Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s team management showed enormous faith in Alzarri Joseph. The Caribbean fast bowler received the biggest contract of his life, and it looked like he would play all 14 matches for RCB in the league round. However, RCB dropped him after a few failures. Perhaps, bringing Joseph back can solve problems for Bengaluru.
2. Use a pinch-hitting opener like Sunil Narine
Kolkata Knight Riders have achieved a lot of success by sending Sunil Narine as an opener. His wicket does not cost much in the end, but if he scores runs in powerplay, it is bonus for the team. Perhaps, RCB can do the same and ask someone like Saurav Chauhan or Karn Sharma to go out there and smack it in the powerplay overs.
3. RCB must bring back Glenn Maxwell
Although Glenn Maxwell himself asked for a break and give chances to other players, Royal Challengers Bengaluru should bring him back. A player like Maxwell can help the team win even from a losing situation. His form has not been the best, but he is just a few hits away from becoming the most dangerous batter of the league.
