Rahul Dravid has stepped down from his role as the Head Coach of the Rajasthan Royals. It is not certain if RR already has a replacement in mind. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three coaches who can replace Rahul Dravid as the Head Coach of Rajasthan Royals.
RR must be clear on whom they appoint now. This candidate must work well for two years and if the franchise finds success, the coach must carry the team to the next cycle, as well.
1) Shane Bond
Shane Bond has done well as a Head Coach in a few other leagues. He is probably ready for a gig as a Head Coach in the IPL. He has been with the Royals for a while now and it would be a natural progression for him to become a Head Coach.
2) Kumar Sangakkara can become the Head Coach of the Rajasthan Royals
Sangakkara enjoyed a few good years as the Head Coach of RR. There is a possibility that he might come back to the role, especially because he knows the structure of the franchise and has worked with many of the players already. Sangakkara also aligns with RR’s vision of youth at the centre of performances. Hence, he might be a good fit for the unit.
3) Trevor Penny
The former Zimbabwe cricketer has been with the Royals family for a while now. He is now the lead at SA20 and has held roles at the CPL, as well. In the IPL, too, in the past, the coach has served as an assistant coach. Therefore, it would not be a surprise if he comes on board for RR, as well.
