    1. New Zealand after becoming ICC World Test Champions

    New Zealand defeated India in 2021 to become the inaugural WTC Champions. However, since then, they have struggled in Test cricket. They suffered a home defeat against Bangladesh and also away series defeat against India. The defending champions have already been knocked out of the race to the WTC Final even though they have one more series left in the ongoing cycle of World Test Championship.

    2. Sri Lanka after becoming T20 WC Champions in 2014

    Sri Lanka won their maiden T20 World Cup title in 2014. However, after that tournament, Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene never played T20Is again. It started the downfall of Sri Lanka as they were eliminated in Super 10s of T20 World Cup 2016 and then had to play qualifiers for the next two T20 World Cups.

    India toured West Indies, England and Australia after the 2011 WC. They lost against England and failed to qualify for CB Series Final in 2012. The Indian team also lost against Bangladesh in 2012 Asia Cup and failed to qualify for final. After some changes in the team, India bounced back and won Champions Trophy in 2013.
