T20 World Cup 2024 is less than two months away, and the cricket boards across the world have gradually started their planning process for the mega event in West Indies and USA. Pakistan Cricket Board have shocked the world by managing to convince to two retired cricketers to come back and play the shortest format of the game.
One of the two names is Mohammad Amir, who had retired because the Pakistan team management did not understand his workload issues. The second name is Imad Wasim, who surprisingly retired. Both Wasim and Amir are back in Pakistan’s T20I squad for the upcoming series against New Zealand.
Every cricketer has that itch to play international events, especially a tournament like T20 World Cup, happening in United States and West Indies. Here’s a look at the three other cricketers who can come out of retirement for T20 World Cup 2024.
1. Many Indian fans dream to see MS Dhoni back for T20 World Cup 2024
MS Dhoni is smacking the ball hard in IPL 2024. He is in terrific shape, and the T20 World Cup will start immediately after the IPL, means if Dhoni wants, he can make himself available for the mega event. He reportedly wanted to play T20 World Cup 2020 but it got postponed. Perhaps, he can do it in another leap year now.
2. Sunil Narine
Sunil Narine retired from all formats of international cricket in 2023. However, this year’s T20 World Cup is happening in West Indies. Considering the form he is in, West Indies would welcome him with open hands if he wishes to play in the mega event.
3. Alex Hales
Alex Hales surprised everyone by retiring from all formats of international cricket last year. The explosive opener was instrumental in England’s T20 World Cup 2022 triumph. Perhaps, the defending champions can convince him to return one last time.
