While India is enjoying a good phase in Tests at home, they must be prepared for the rough patch. Hence, this might be the right time for the men in blue to try a few experiments.
1) Play just one seamer in the playing XI
England fielded just one pacer in the playing XI against India for the Hyderabad Test. Similarly, India could also try this in the next games. Mohammed Siraj has not been able to pick wickets and therefore, it would be a good idea to have him on the bench while a spinner comes to the playing XI. Someone like Kuldeep Yadav is an attacking option and would make batting more difficult for the Englishmen.
2) Rajat Patidar at No.3 could happen in the next Tests against England
Shubman Gill has been struggling to score runs at No.3. However, it would be unfair to drop him because, the talented cricketer that he is, he definitely deserves some more chances. However, Rajat Patidar is a quality cricketer and it would not be a bad idea to have him at No.3. He is a naturally attacking cricketer and is good against both pace and spin. Hence, he could be a good option at the No.3 spot.
3) Promote Axar Patel in the batting order
Promoting Axar Patel in the batting order is one of the experiments India must try in the next Tests against England. For a few months now, Axar Patel has been delivering with the bat. No.9 looks too low for a batter of his quality. Also, India might need a left-hander to tackle some of the English left-arm spinners in the middle-order. Here is where someone like Axar Patel could lend a good hand with the bat.
