Under pressure, teams could end up signing players who might not be needed for the team. There would have been better options but these teams overlook them to sign some other cricketers.

1) Shai Hope – Delhi Capitals

Yes, Delhi Capitals did need a wicket-keeper as a backup. That is why they invested a lot in the Indian youngster and also got Tristan Stubbs. Shai Hope has been in decent form but he does not appear to be ready for the IPL. Anyways, players like Finn Allen and Phil Salt went unsold. These cricketers would have been a better pick as the backup keeper.

2) Ashton Turner – Lucknow Super Giants

Ashton Turner is one of the foreigners who surprisingly got a bid in IPL 2024 Auctions. Turner is one of the best players when it comes to the BBL. However, he is not part of the Australian setup right now. Also, with LSG having the likes of Kyle Mayers, it was a surprise that a player like Ashton Turner was picked.

3) Tom Curran – Royal Challengers Bangalore

Considering his economy, many teams would have backed away from signing Tom Curran. However, RCB of all franchises, which plays most of its games at Chinnaswamy, picked the English cricketer. It was a bad move because even if Tom has improved his skills, the margin for error is too low in Bengaluru. His batting might not be able to make up for it.
