“I didn’t want to go to RCB” – Robin Uthappa makes shocking revelation about playing for home team RCB in IPL

Former Indian cricketer and 2-times Indian Premier League (IPL) champion Robin Uthappa recently talked about his trade deal to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (then Royal Challengers Bangalore) from Mumbai Indians in the 2nd season of the IPL and how he didn’t wanted to play for RCB.

Robin Uthappa who won the IPL in 2014 and 2021 with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) respectively, kicked-off his IPL career with the Mumbai Indians in the inaugural season in 2008.

In 2008, he featured in all 14 matches for the Mumbai team and scored 320 runs. But the batter was traded to the Royal Challengers Bangalore, first of many players to be traded in IPL history.

However, during a recent match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL, Robin Uthappa revealed how he didn’t want to play for the RCB team. During his discussion with Brett Lee in JioCinema Insiders show during MI vs RCB IPL 2024 match, Robin revealed, “I was traded from MI to RCB after the first season. But I didn’t want to go to RCB at all.”

Brett Lee then asked him that he was from Bengaluru itself then why he didn’t want to play for RCB, “But you’re from Bangalore, right?” To which, Uthappa said, “Still didn’t want to move to RCB.”

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians outclassed Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2024 match. Batting first, RCB scored 198 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in Wankhede stadium. Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav then led the charge in chase for Mumbai Indians and chased down the target in 15.3 overs.
