IPL has always been a dream for many players, not just across India but all across the globe. Like the way, it has built fortunes of individuals as they have left an everlasting legacy. However, not all of them have been actually so lucky, whether it was because of a mediocre display or the decisions taken by their respective franchise to go for a revamp.
Here are five players who played one season in the IPL and then never took part in the tournament anymore.
#1 Chandrasekhar Ganapathy
The right-arm fast bowler from Trichy played a key role in the resurgence of Tamil Nadu in the domestic circuit. With his phenomenal rise in 2008-09 as a potent all-rounder, he played a crucial role in shaping up the Tamil Nadu side. With such a phenomenal display in his belt, CSK came knocking for him in 2010 but that was the last season in IPL that he would play. His contributions weren’t great enough as he played just one match and conceded 13 runs from the one over that he bowled.
#2 Azhar Bilakhia
The right-handed batter from Gujarat had a lot of expectations pinned onto his shoulder. He represented Baroda, Gujarat and was also a part of the India U19s. He was selected by the Deccan Chargers and even went onto play a staggering seven matches. Sadly, enough he could garner only 69 runs with 22 being his highest score. However, in 2010, he could only play a solitary game.
#3 VRV Singh
Former Indian fast bowler who played five Test matches and two ODIs while claiming eight wickets in his short sojourn in international cricket could only be a part of the hallowed IPL just once. Picked up by Kings XI Punjab now rechristened as Punjab Kings, he played 19 matches for the team. However, in 2010, he could only play one game while claiming 12 wickets in his overall IPL career.
#4 Mohnish Parmar
Another promising prospect from Gujarat lost himself midway with just 20 first-class matches in his repertoire. In 2010, he played a solitary game for KKR, bowling three overs, conceding 33 runs without any wickets whatsoever. He had a decent run in first-class cricket with 92 wickets from just 20 matches.
#5 Damian Martyn
The Aussie stalwart left an impressive legacy in his wake in international cricke. However, that wasn’t enough for him to impress the IPL franchises. Playing for Rajasthan Royals, he featured in a solitary game while scoring only 19 runs. Since then, he decided to call it a day in the Indian Premier League and never returned as a cricketer.
