Deccan Chargers were a part of the Indian Premier League in the first five editions of the tournament. The team was one of the first eight original franchises in the competition. DC finished last in the inaugural edition of the league but made a roaring comeback in the second season and won the championship by defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final again.
The Chargers never made it to the final again, but they had a huge fan following. Also, many fans regard their theme song and their jersey as one of the best in the IPL history. Deccan Chargers played their last IPL season in the year 2012. SunRisers Hyderabad replaced them in 2013.
Since the DC franchise has been out of IPL for a decade now, a majority of the players who turned up for the side have now retired. But three of them are present in the upcoming IPL 2023 Auction player list. Here are the three names:
1. Former Deccan Chargers bowler Ishant Sharma
Ishant Sharma bowled some of the best spells of his IPL career while playing for the Deccan Chargers team in the IPL. None of the fans can forget the way he destroyed the Kochi Tuskers Kerala batting lineup in IPL 2011. Sharma is aiming to make a comeback in IPL 2023.
2. Former Deccan Chargers bowler Amit Mishra
Another formed DC bowler to feature on the list is Amit Mishra. He was the hat-trick hero of the franchise. Mishra went unsold at the IPL 2022 Auction. It will be interesting to see if he earns a contract this year.
3. Chris Lynn
Australian batter Chris Lynn played for Deccan Chargers during the final phase of their IPL stint. Lynn went unsold at the IPL 2022 Auction as well. He has set a massive 2 crore base price for the 2023 auction this year.
