While things could change if India wins the 2023 ODI World Cup, if the success does not happen, Rahul Dravid’s contract as the Indian Head Coach might not get extended. In recent times, BCCI has preferred an Indian Head Coach. Therefore, it may not be a surprise if they go the same route for the next stint. We take a look at some of the options below:

    1) VVS Laxman

When Ravi Shastri was Head Coach, Rahul Dravid sometimes was the Head Coach of the India A sides and also the Indian Team without seniors. VVS Laxman is fulfilling that role now. Therefore, from a logical point of view, the Hyderabad-born cricketer could take up the mantle after Dravid.

    2) MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni is one of the former Indian cricketers who can replace Rahul Dravid after the 2023 ODI WC as the Head Coach. Dhoni is yet to announce his retirement from IPL. If he does announce it within the next few months, BCCI might as well consider him for the role. Yes, MSD might not have experience but he has the arsenal to do well in this role. That said, MSD would have a final say in this decision.

    3) Gautam Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir could also be an option in this regard. He is a brilliant strategist and India needs such individuals in the backroom. A person of strong opinion, Gambhir could bring an impact to Team India just like the one Sourav Ganguly brought when he was made the captain of Team India. Of course, if at all BCCI makes this decision, a lot of boundaries need to be drawn and a clear agenda will have to be given.
