Currently, World Cricket has many solid coaches such as Brendon McCullum, who were brilliant as a cricketer and are also good right now. In India, the count is low. Probably, some of the former cricketers could have taken the role more seriously.

    1) Irfan Pathan

Irfan Pathan did well as a Mentor-Player for Jammu & Kashmir. He spotted talent well and helped their development. Having won some major trophies, Irfan is someone who could have done well as a Head Coach. As he displayed, the potential was there in him. He still can try out this role but at the moment, he seems to be occupied with his broadcasting responsibilities.

    2) Virender Sehwag

Virender Sehwag is one of the former Indian T20I players who must have taken coaching seriously. For Punjab Kings, Virender Sehwag was at the helm. However, after he left the franchise, Sehwag has not tried out this role anywhere else. Considering he was one of a kind as a player, he might have a different view towards the game and this could have helped a few teams win some trophies.

    3) Yuvraj Singh

Interestingly, Yuvraj Singh never tried this role. However, being a top T20 cricketer, he would have been fit as a Head Coach. A few years ago, there were rumours that he would be a Player-Mentor for Punjab in domestic cricket. However, that did not happen. It needs to be seen if he would take up such a task in the future.
