Test Debut is generally a nervous moment for any cricketer. It is the first time the player represents his nation in the purest format of the game. The red-ball format often tests the skills of the players to the fullest. Apart from cricketing skills, the game also tests the temperament, patience, stamina and focus of the players.

It is rare to see a player score big on his Test debut. India have been one of the most successful Test-playing nations in cricket history, but so far in the history of Indian cricket, there have been just three debutants who managed to notch a score of 150 or more on their Test debut. Here’s a list of the three names.

    1. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 150 on Test debut

The most recent name to appear on this list is Yashasvi Jaiswal. The left-handed batter accomplished the feat while playing in the first match of the ICC World Test Championship series between the Indian cricket team and the West Indies cricket team.

    2. Rohit Sharma

Current Indian team captain Rohit Sharma also hit 150 in his first Test match for the Indian cricket team. While Sharma won the T20 World Cup 2007 and played a lot of ODIs as well, he played his first Test in 2013. Rohit played a magnificent knock of 177 runs on debut against West Indies at Eden Gardens.

    3. Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan was the first Indian batter to smack a 150 in his first Test match. Dhawan achieved the feat against the Australian cricket team at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in the year 2013. The left-handed batter smashed 187 runs to help India record a win in that match.
