The likes of Shubman Gill, Mohammed Siraj, Axar Patel, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant, all made their debuts in the last five years and have cemented their place in the Indian Test team. However, there are also some players who have been dropped, and not many would remember that these players represented the Indian Test team during the last five years. Here’s a list of three such players:

    1. Navdeep Saini played 2 Tests for India in 2021

Indian fast bowler Navdeep Saini made his Test debut in the year 2021. He made his debut in the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia and scalped two wickets each in the two innings of that match.

Saini retained his place in the playing XI for the match in Brisbane. However, he could not make much of an impact in that game before getting injured. Saini is yet to play another game in the whites for India.

    2. Dinesh Karthik played Tests for India in 2018

Wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik made a memorable return to the Indian T20I team in 2022. Not many fans would remember that Karthik also made a comeback to the Test team in 2018 for the England tour. He played two matches in that series and returned with scores of 0, 20, 1 and 0.

    3. Parthiv Patel

Former Indian wicket-keeper batter Parthiv Patel also played Tests for India in the year 2018. His last appearance was against South Africa, where he scored 18 runs in two innings.
