Now, the next big assignment for most of the Indians would be the Test series against South Africa and then England. Hence, there would be some cricketers who would already start preparing for it. VHT 2023 will be a good platform for the same.
1) Shardul Thakur
Shardul Thakur hardly got to play in the 2023 ODI World Cup. He is unlikely to be selected for the T20I series against Australia. Hence, it is better if he plays for Mumbai in the VHT 2023. While Mumbai’s chances would increase, it would also give Shardul some game time so that he can prove to the selectors his skills before they sit down to select the future squads.
2) R Ashwin might play in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023
R Ashwin is one of the Indians from the World Cup Team who might play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023. Barring the Chennai game against Australia, Ashwin did not play in the World Cup. He is still pretty fresh and it will not be a bad idea for him to get involved in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Dinesh Karthik will lead the side. After a poor outing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Tamil Nadu will need some experience. Hence, Ashwin is good for the side, as well.
3) Prasidh Krishna
It is likely that Prasidh will get selected for the T20I series against Australia. Even if he does get selected, he can still play in the knockouts if Karnataka makes it. Prasidh will be the next in line to cement his spot as a pacer in the ODI side. He is also likely to make his Test debut soon. He is a talented cricketer and Prasidh will need to prove his consistency. Some games in the Vijay Hazare would help him in this regard.
