BCCI announced the squad for the upcoming Asia Cup on Tuesday. It was a mixed bag with quite a few surprises. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three Indians lucky to be selected for the Asia Cup 2025.
India’s squad for Asia Cup: Surya Kumar Yadav (C), Shubman Gill (VC), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Jitesh Sharma (WK), Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, Sanju Samson (WK), Harshit Rana, Rinku Singh
Standby players: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Prasidh Krishna, Washington Sundar, Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel
1) Rinku Singh
It has been two seasons since Rinku did well in IPL. He was, especially, poor in IPL 2025. After his strong start for Team India, Rinku has not been consistent. Considering that the likes of Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul missed, you could tell that Rinku can consider himself lucky to have found a place.
2) Harshit Rana is one of the Indians lucky to be selected for the Asia Cup 2025
Even when he played for India, Harshit was yet to clearly establish his position. There were clearly better pacers than him in IPL 2025. Hence, it is a bit of luck for Harshit to find a place, especially when someone like Prasidh Krishna, who won the Purple Cap in IPL 2025, did not find a spot.
3) Shivam Dube
Dube was not in great form in IPL 2025. He did not have a single innings that defined his form in the league. Considering India has a stacked middle-order with someone like Suryakumar Yadav at No.4, India might have rather had a backup for Tilak Verma at No.3 with someone like Shreyas Iyer.
