Team India will not play any T20I cricket before the 2024 T20 World Cup. Hence, a couple of selections could happen based on the IPL performance. Here, we take a look at three Indians who have not played T20Is for more than a year but might selected for the 2024 T20 WC.

In recent months, we have seen the management select players for an ICC tournament even though the players had not played for a long time. It could happen before the T20 World Cup in 2024, as well.

    1) KL Rahul

KL Rahul is one of the Indians who have not played T20Is for more than a year but might selected for the 2024 T20 WC. Considering the current form that he is in, KL Rahul does deserve a return to the T20I setup. He is now a middle-order batter and also a solid wicket-keeping option. Since the current options such as Jitesh Sharma and Sanju Samson are struggling, Rahul could get a chance in the setup.

    2) Varun CV could be selected for the 2024 T20 WC

It was in 2021 that Varun last played for India. Since then, he has been doing well in the IPL. India needs good spinners for the T20 World Cup. If the spot for a right-arm off-spinner opens up, India could consider Varun based on his IPL form. Yes, he does not provide anything with the bat but if he is in form, it could mean that 24 balls would go India’s way while bowling.

    3) Mohammed Shami

Ahead of the 2022 T20 World Cup, Shami made a comeback to the T20I setup because Bumrah was injured. Now, seeing the other options that India has, Shami could be persisted for the T20I setup. He is also in good current form. It would also make sense to hand him a comeback as he would be a good option for the middle overs.
