    Selected Asia Cup

BCCI is soon going to announce the squad for Asia Cup. It is a no-brainer that this squad is likely to make it to the World Cup, as well. However, there could be a few changes. Here, we take a look at the list of three Indians who might get selected for the Asia Cup but may miss out on ODI WC.

India currently has a lot of fitness issues. These players might not make a comeback in the Asia Cup. Hence, a few others might be selected and these cricketers will also act as the stand-by for the mega-event.

    1) Mukesh Kumar

Mukesh Kumar recently made his debut in all three formats. Therefore, he is someone who might be seen as a reliable option by the management. Considering India might not risk the likes of Jasprit Bumrah too much, a player like Mukesh Kumar could get his chance. However, since he is also selected for the Asian Games, it is hard to expect him to be in the WC squad.

    2) Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson is one of the Indians who might get selected for the Asia Cup but may miss out on ODI WC. If KL Rahul is unfit, Sanju is likely to get selected for the team. However, if KL is fit by the World Cup, the Karnataka batter is likely to be preferred ahead of Sanju. The Kerala cricketer has not made full use of his chances and that could play a part in this decision.

    3) Tilak Varma

Considering his current form, Tilak Varma is a firm option for the ODI setup, at least according to the opinion of many experts. Being a left-hander is an advantage for Tilak. It might actually not be a surprise if he makes his ODI debut as early as Asia Cup 2023. If he does well, he would be a good backup choice to have. The 20-year-old is also a decent off-spinner. Hence, with him in the mix, India would have an extra option with the ball.
