Players who have been selected for the Asian Games might not play in ODI World Cup 2023. However, if there are any injury issues to the main players, a few of these cricketers could play in the Asia Cup, which is seen as the tournament that will have the squad that will represent India at the WC.

    1) Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad is the skipper of Team India in the Asian Games 2023. However, if any of the regular openers are not available, Rutu might get a chance to be a part of the Asia Cup. It may not be a surprise if the management also explores the Maharashtra batter in a middle-order role. It appears that the management is seeing Rutu as a part of the leadership group in the future. Hence, he could get some chances so that he is in touch if a chance arises during the ODI World Cup.

    2) Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh is one of the Indians who might play in both the Asia Cup and Asian Games 2023. It is not sure if India would persist with Jaydev Unadkat as the left-hand pace option for ODI World Cup. It would be unwise if India does not have a single frontline left-handed pace option. Arshdeep is a better bet at the moment and hence, he could also play in Asia Cup.

    3) Mukesh Kumar

If there is any injury to a frontline pacer, Mukesh Kumar will have a chance to represent India in Asia Cup. He has already booked a spot in Asian Games. If he does well in Asia Cup, he could be one of the standby players for the 2023 ODI WC.
