The County Championship is an important event in the global cricketing calendar. In the past, many Indian cricketers were part of the event. However, the number has dwindled in recent years. Cheteshwar Pujara is the only Indian who is currently participating in the event. That said, a few other Indian cricketers could have made the decision to play the county. On that note, in this article, we take a look at the list of three Indians who should have played in the ongoing County Championship.

    1) Ajinkya Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane is currently taking part in IPL 2022. He is representing the Kolkata Knight Riders. Considering he anyways will have it difficult to return to the ODI or the T20I setup, Rahane could have rather opted for a stint in the County. A few runs in that league could have helped him fall in the eyes of the selectors again. If not this season, if his situation remains the same, Rahane must try a county challenge next year.

    2) Ishant Sharma

Ishant Sharma is one of the Indians who should have played in the ongoing County Championship. The tall pacer from Delhi was recently dropped from Team India. He was anyways short of game time in recent months. Hence, Ishant could have taken part in the County and done well so that he could have made a comeback. Now, he is not even part of IPL and this phase without playing cricket might affect his future.

    3) Hanuma Vihari

Hanuma Vihari has played in County before and he could have done the same this season too. However, he chose to take part in a regional tournament in Bangladesh. That tournament is over and currently, Vihari is preparing for the test match in July against England. The batter is likely to be a part of the XI for that game.
