After the end of the last T20 World Cup, many expected massive changes in the squad. In line with this, a few players have now come into the squad. It was hardly expected a few months ago that they will form an important role in the team. However, now they are certain to be on the flight to Australia. On that note, in this article, we take a look at three Indians who were not in contention a few months ago but are now certain for T20 WC.
1) Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik was considered a ‘retired’ player by many until a few months ago. However, the veteran pulled off a terrific show in IPL 2022. He was the best striker of the ball at the death. India needed someone in that role and hence, DK got his chance in the blue jersey. He has, so far, done well with a few good cameos. Considering his range against pace is brilliant, he is likely to be selected for the mega-event.
2) Deepak Hooda
Deepak Hooda is also one of the Indians who were not in contention a few months ago but are now certain for the T20 WC. Hooda has been doing well both in domestic cricket and in the IPL for the last two years. In Team India, as well, he has done well. Recently, the all-rounder also scored a century. Although Virat Kohli is still the preferred No.3, Deepak Hooda is also an option and will most likely be selected for the T20 World Cup.
3) Hardik Pandya
The Baroda all-rounder’s form in the last year pushed many into thinking that a comeback might be hard for Hardik. His frequent injuries further worsened his situation. However, he worked hard in the background and is now one of the first names on the team sheet in the T20 XI. He was always in the scheme of things but not many had confidence in a strong return. Since he has done that, he is a part of this list.
