In recent years, we have seen a few cricketers quit Test cricket to extend their presence in the white-ball formats, especially in T20 cricket. Injuries are one reason while the commercial factor is also a vital factor. When it comes to injuries, a few England stars struggle big time. They are a part of the Test setup and if they can quit that, they would have a good chance to improve and extend their T20 or ODI careers. Here, we take a look at three English star cricketers who should retire from Tests to prolong their white-ball careers.

    1) Jofra Archer

He has not played Tests in a while and will also miss Ashes 2023. It is not sure if he would get injured if he returns to play Test cricket. However, there is a good future ahead of him in the T20 format. As per reports, Mumbai Indians are all set to offer him a year-long contract. It might be better off if Jofra can instead focus on the white-ball formats.

    2) Liam Livingstone

Liam Livingstone is one of the English star cricketers who should retire from Tests to prolong their white-ball careers. He recently made his debut in Tests and looks set for a career in the red-ball format. However, considering his injury history and his skills in the white-ball format, the batting all-rounder can consider his Test career.

    3) Mark Wood

Mark Wood is also injury prone. He has missed quite a few games in recent times. The pacer will be a part of Ashes 2023 if he is fit. While his impact is big in the red-ball format, he is also equally good in T20s and ODIs. In Tests, he can get injured again which, in the future, might also have an impact on his pace. Hence, it would not be a bad idea if he can keep Test cricket aside and have a longer T20 career.
