These days, being an IPL Head Coach is almost equivalent to being the Head Coach of a National Team. The pressure and intensity is almost the same. Here, we take a look at the list of three IPL Head Coaches who went on to win the ODI World Cup as Head Coach.
In the past, we have seen coaches get experience in the IPL and then do well for a national team. Some of them even won an ODI World Cup after their IPL stint.
1) Trevor Bayliss
Trevor Bayliss was the KKR coach for quite some time. In 2012 and 2014, he even helped the team win the tournament. Five years later, Bayliss won the ODI World Cup with England. It is one of the biggest moments of his career. For England, as well, it was huge as it was their first ODI World Cup.
2) Darren Lehmann won both the IPL and ODI World Cup as Head Coach
The Australian Head Coach won the IPL in 2009 with the Deccan Chargers. Later, he had a stint with the Kings XI Punjab, as well. After that, he was the Head Coach of Australia for some time. He helped Australia navigate the transition era. In 2015, under the leadership of Michael Clarke, the team also won the ODI World Cup.
3) Andrew McDonald
Andrew McDonald is one of the IPL Head Coaches who went on to win the ODI World Cup as Head Coach. The Aussie all-rounder served a short stint at RR as the Head Coach.
