CSK wants to sign Sanju Samson for next season. However, there are too many issues for this deal to happen. Here, we take a look at the list of three other players CSK can target in the trade window if they can’t get Sanju Samson.
For CSK, making a strong comeback next season is really important. It has been more than two years since they won the trophy. For a successful side like CSK, it is too long a drought.
1) Abishek Porel
The Bengal keeper was retained by the Delhi Capitals. Hence, it is unlikely that they will release him. However, he does not have a very clear role at DC. CSK needs a domestic left-hander at the top. Since they also need a keeper, they can target someone like Porel to improve the domestic strength of the side.
2) CSK can target R Smaran if they can’t get Sanju Samson
SRH might want to retain R. Smaran. However, with Ishan Kishan getting a No.3 role and Nitish Reddy likely to insist on a better batting role, Smaran might not find a place. Hence, CSK could try getting the youngster and have him bat at No.3. This would help the overall balance of the side.
3) Glenn Phillips
It will be a difficult deal to pull off. However, CSK needs exactly a player like the Kiwi. He can finish games and is also a reliable keeper. At Chennai, his role with the ball will also be vital. CSK likes versatile cricketers and Phillips is surely one of them.
