The defeat against Afghanistan has forced a lot of fans to question whether Pakistan is playing under the right captain.
Some former cricketers have opined that Mohammad Rizwan or Shaheen Afridi should take over the reins of the team. But in this article now, we will look at the three ‘out of the box’ options who can replace Babar Azam as Pakistan’s ODI captain.
1. Imad Wasim can replace Babar Azam
Imad Wasim is a fighter. He is an all-rounder, who has proven himself as a match-winner for Pakistan. On the show ‘Haarna Mana Hai’, Wasim pointed out that Pakistan needs to change their playing style. It seems like he knows what needs to be done and could be the right guy for the job.
2. Sarfaraz Ahmed
Sarfaraz Ahmed’s captaincy played a big role in Pakistan’s success. The veteran wicketkeeper batter made a fantastic return to Test cricket in 2022/23. If given a chance to lead Pakistan, he can lead the nation to the top once again.
3. Aamer Yamin
In case you didn’t know, Pakistan are not scheduled to play a single ODI match until 2024 November after the 2023 WC. If the team management wants, they can hit the reset button for the squad and name Aamer Yamin as the captain, who led Central Punjab to the Pakistan Cup championship. They can form a young squad under Yamin.
