CSK has a hefty purse and will go at least for one big signing. They might have to compromise on other signings. Here, we take a look at the list of three players CSK could surprisingly target for IPL 2026.
CSK has a few gaps in the squad that need to be fixed. At the same time, they must improve the quality of their depth and have a look at the future, as well.
1) David Miller
David Miller is not on the wishlist of many because of his poor run in IPL 2025. That said, he has experience and he could be a good signing for CSK, at least as a backup. He is a power-hitter and CSK needs such a profile in the team.
2) Akash Deep is one of the players CSK could surprisingly target for IPL 2026
With Pathirana gone, CSK will have to focus on their pace department. While they could get him back or another big name, improving the Indian stocks will always help the balance. Although his IPL record is not great, Akash can be a good signing considering his potential and his experience with Team India.
3) Matthew Short
Not many are talking of Short as someone who can add value to a side. He can oeprate at multiple slots and he also provides balance with his off-spin, something that is very useful at Chepauk.
