CSK will have to make some bold moves before the next season. However, they are not in a position to do an overhaul, as well. Here, we take a look at the list of three players CSK might surprisingly retain before IPL 2026.
CSK must accept that IPL 2025 was a bad season. While they must release some of the non-performers, they must also look at the future of the squad and give a second chance to a few names.
1) Sam Curran
Sam Curran has been on fire in the T20 format. He was in fine form in the recent Hundred 2025, in which he picked a load of wickets and also scored a lot of runs. In the back end of IPL 2025, CSK used him in the middle order, and Curran did well. Considering his potential, CSK could retain the English all-rounder.
2) Rachin Ravindra is one of the players CSK might surprisingly retain before IPL 2026
One of Rachin Ravindra or Devon Conway will have to leave CSK. However, considering the future of the side, Rachin could still be at CSK. Yes, he was poor last season, but in various other leagues, he has started to do well in the T20 format. He is a future superstar, and CSK is a franchise that might not give up too early on him.
3) Vijay Shankar
Vijay Shankar was better compared to Deepak Hooda and Rahul Tripathi. As a middle-order profile, he fits the bill nicely and CSK can use him as a backup. Therefore, they could keep hold of the player.
