There are strong rumours that Sanju Samson and Tristan Stubbs might exchange sides before IPL 2026. Here, we take a look at the list of three players Delhi Capitals could target to replace Tristan Stubbs if he is traded to RR.
Donovan Ferreira is already in the squad, but Delhi could invest in a new middle-order batter. There are not too many options in the market, though, to have a solid replacement.
1) Tom Banton
Tom Banton is more of a top-order batter, but for England. However, he is doing a decent job in the middle order. While he could take time to get used to the IPL demands, he can be a solid investment for the future. He is also someone who can keep wickets, just like Stubbs.
2) Jamie Smith is a target if Tristan Stubbs is traded to the Rajasthan Royals
Jamie Smith is again a top-order batter. However, he has experience of doing well in a middle-order role. Delhi Capitals could even consider him as a replacement for JFM. There is high potential in him and with DC building a squad for the future, he would be ideal.
3) Mark Chapman
Mark Chapman might be an outside choice in this regard. While he had a phase of great run at the international level, at the franchise level, he is yet to make a name. However, his experience of donning a middle-order role for every team he plays for is something DC could consider going forward. Hence, he is on this list.
