Although there were almost zero expectations from them before IPL 2022 started, Gujarat Titans did pull off an incredible feat by winning the competition. The expectations would increase on them from now on. In line with this, the management will have to make some key signings to retain their form for next campaign. On that note, in this article, we take a look at three players Gujarat Titans can target for IPL 2023.
1) Ben Stokes
If Ben Stokes makes himself available for IPL 2023, Gujarat Titans should make him one of the main targets. Matthew Wade was in dismal form in IPL 2022 and hence, the No.3 role in the XI is vacant. Ben Stokes is the best possible option for this slot for GT. Moreover, he also gives a few overs with the ball, which is an added bonus.
2) Dinesh Bana
Dinesh Bana is one of the players Gujarat Titans can target for IPL 2023. Although the teenager trained with Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2022, GT should look to target him. Wriddhiman Saha did a good job but GT need a domestic wicket-keeper for the future. Hence, they can target the U19 World Cup winner for the role. It will take a while for the youngster to develop but with the team having won a trophy already, they can afford the time to help Bana improve.
3) Paul Stirling
If Jason Roy does not return for IPL 2023, GT must ensure the signing of Paul Stirling. The Irishman is one of the most dangerous openers in the T20 format right now. With Shubman Gill taking up the role of an anchor, there is someone required to give explosive starts at the start of an innings. While Roy is still the best bet, Stirling should be the reserve option for the management.
