The squad has quite a few holes that need filling. For that, they would need funds, and in this regard, releasing some cricketers could be the only option for the side.
1) Rahul Tewatia
While Tewatia has always had a positive impact on GT, his overall contribution is not that great. He is a specialist finisher and in the current game, the team needs more balance and players with additional skills. Therefore, GT might consider moving on from the cricketer. They could hire funds to find a good domestic keeper, as well.

The South African speedster was not in great form. He lacked variations and was predictable. Since Kagiso Rabada is there in the squad, GT might actually not need the player. They could go for a left-arm seamer or a specialist Indian new-ball pacer. This will help the balance of the side.

Mahipal is a talented cricketer. He had a good cycle for RCB, and hence, he was expected to have a good season in 2025. However, surprisingly, he did not get a single game and this is despite the middle-order struggles for GT. It seems the management is not impressed with the Rajasthan cricketer, and hence, he could be released.
