IPL 2025 Mega Auction has been confirmed by the BCCI officials. After a break of three years, the mega auction will return in 2025, with 10 teams having the option to retain to three to four players each. The last time a mega auction happened in the league was back in the year 2022.
In that auction, Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants were the two new entrants in the competition. GT and LSG got the benefit of a draft before the auction, where they could choose three players each from the list of names released by the other eight teams.
However, this time around, neither GT nor LSG will have that option. Speaking of Gujarat Titans, here’s a look at the three players GT might retain ahead of IPL 2025 Mega Auction.
1. GT will retain Shubman Gill ahead of IPL 2025 Mega Auction
Shubman Gill is the Prince of Indian cricket. He scored almost 900 runs in the last IPL for Gujarat Titans. Plus, he is the new captain of the team now. Gill will likely receive a massive salary hike at the next auction as his current salary is 8 Crore INR.
2. Rashid Khan
Leg-spinner Rashid Khan has been the vice-captain of the Gujarat Titans since the team’s first season. Khan has also led GT on a couple of occasions. He is one of the top T20 players in the world, and it should not be a surprise if the Titans retain him.
3. Mohammed Shami
Fast bowler Mohammed Shami will miss the entire IPL season due to injury in 2024. However, he will be fit in September and should be available for IPL 2025. Hence, Gujarat Titans should retain him because he won the Purple Cap in IPL 2023.
