Gujarat Titans did not do a lot of releases ahead of IPL 2026 Auctions. However, they did take some calls, which were surprising. Here, we take a look at the list of three players Gujarat Titans surprisingly retained before IPL 2026 Auctions.
GT does have a few gaps to plug before the next season. One important decision they took was to trade out Sherfane Rutherford. The management will have to find a replacement for him to begin with.
1) Anuj Rawat
The former RCB player did not receive many opportunities last season. However, considering his record in the IPL and at the domestic level, it is surprising that GT has given him one more season. It could also be GT’s strategy to groom an Indian wicket-keeper, an option that they lack at the moment.
2) Jayant Yadav is one of the players Gujarat Titans surprisingly retained before IPL 2026 Auctions
Washington Sundar is in the side as the lead right-arm off-spinner. He himself was not used much last season. Glenn Phillips can also roll his arm over. GT could have developed a young star, but they have retained Jayant Yadav, who has been inconsistent in the last few seasons.
3) Ishant Sharma
Ishant Sharma is not at his best at the domestic level. Yes, he is experience,d but GT is retaining him for another season. They could rather plan to groom one of the younger players. Nevertheless, Ishant can serve as a backup for Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna. If the ball is moving, he can also get the new ball.
