Irani Trophy starts from October 1st. Saurashtra will take on the Rest of India Team for the title. A few members in the ROI squad could also feature against England next year.

    1) Shams Mulani

Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel have both been in terrific form in recent years. However, the injuries to both of these players recently have cast doubts on their longevity. In this regard, it is better to have a backup ready. Shams Mulani has been consistently picking wickets in the Ranji Trophy in the last few seasons. He is also a decent batter. Hence, it could be a good idea to give him an opportunity at the highest level.

    2) Sarfaraz Khan

Sarfaraz Khan is one of the players in the Rest of India Irani Trophy squad who could play in the England Test series. The Mumbai middle-order batter is still waiting for his spot in the Indian Team. The next few months could be crucial for him. If he can do well in the Ranji Trophy, there is every chance that he will get a spot in the squad. At least, to start with, he could get a spot in the Indian Team as a backup option in the middle-order.

    3) K S Bharat

The wicketkeeper lost his place to Ishan Kishan in the Test Team. However, it is India and you need good keepers behind the stumps. KS Bharat ranks better than Ishan in this regard. On Indian pitches, Bharat will be at his strong zone when it comes to the bat, as well. Therefore, India could rely on him, unless Rishabh Pant would have become fit to make a return to the Indian Team.
