KKR had a tough run in IPL 2025. It was mainly due to their flawed auction strategy. However, it would be risky to start from scratch again. Here, we take a look at the list of three players KKR might surprisingly retain before IPL 2026.
KKR has a solid core, and they will need to back certain players on the team. Therefore, they could retain them despite a poor run in IPL 2025.
1) Ramandeep Singh
Ramandeep Singh was not great in IPL 2025. A bit of the blame must go to the management because they did not make good use of him. That said, he is a reliable cricketer and he is a pace-bowling all-rounder, something that is not easily available in India. Therefore, KKR could trust him.
2) Spencer Johnson is one of the players KKR might surprisingly retain before IPL 2026
Anrich Nortje could be a better choice for KKR to release. The franchise needs a good left-arm seamer and despite his inconsistency in IPL 2025, Spencer Johnson would be a better fit for the franchise.
3) R Gurbaz
Quinton de Kock might leave the franchise because he is a bit expensive. Although Gurbaz also did not play well, KKR might still retain him because he is young, and if there are any surprises in the auction, there is an option that is readily available in the team. Hence, the Afghan is on the list.
